I hope there is no need for introductions about Steam and its new Linux client. Well, Steam may not be ready for Ubuntu yet, but even in beta phase, Valve is making big steps of progress and it’s quite possible for us to have the official release at mid 2013. After all, there are already a bunch of games available for Linux in Steamshop, like Serious Sam 3, Team Fortress and so forth. In fact, this year 2013 it is expected to be the Year of Gaming in Linux, so my friends get ready for some big time surprise, because this time, Canonical have a sleeve on their pocket.
What if we could play Steam games using our Smartphone ? This may be not a big deal for many of you cause:
- You don’t play games
- You’ve been already happy with currently available games for your mobile
But what if… just IF… there will be a time soon enough when most of the Steam games will be ported into Linux and then you could experience all the magic. What if… you could play the following titles:
- The Elder Scroll’s V: Skyrim
- Dark Souls
- TourchLight II
- Max Payer 3
- Tomb Raider
- Sniper Elite
- Star Wars Knights: The Sith Lords
- Borderlands 2
- Assassin’s Creed 3
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II
- Far Cry 3
- Dota 2
- and many others
First of there will be no need for the developers to port games into mobile. The same code will apply for Ubuntu Steam, will be the same code that will apply for Ubuntu Phone Steam. Well, OpenGLES or what ? I don’t care. this is just a “what if” scenario.
What say you ?
